State Representative John Gillespie has received his committee assignments for his third term in the Tennessee House of Representatives. He was named Vice Chairman of the House Finance Committee. Gillespie will also continue to serve on the Health Committee.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve on the House Finance Committee,” Gillespie said. “This committee makes critical decisions about spending tax dollars. It’s perhaps the most important committee in the House. My goal is to benefit Memphis through my work on the Finance Committee,” remarked Gillespie.
A graduate of High Point University, Gillespie is a native Memphian. He began his career in the banking business, where he worked his way up from Financial Service Representative to the mortgage division. John previously served as Grant Coordinator at a local retirement home. He is a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Representative Gillespie was re-elected to the District 97 seat in the House of Representatives in November. The district includes most of East Memphis and part of Cordova.
